Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Polymarket and Kalshi operate with different liquidity pools, user bases, and fee structures, which can cause temporary price gaps. Polymarket may attract more casual traders while Kalshi draws specialists, leading to different risk assessments of the Tigers versus Astros matchup. Latency in cross-platform arbitrage, regional user concentrations, and variations in how each platform handles order flow can widen spreads. Additionally, each platform's native token incentives and promotional activity influence participation patterns. Savvy traders monitor these divergences to identify arbitrage opportunities, though transaction costs and withdrawal delays typically prevent perfect convergence.
Key catalysts for Detroit Tigers vs. Houston Astros odds include injury announcements to star players, bullpen availability, recent team form, and head-to-head matchup history. Weather conditions—wind speed and temperature at the stadium—significantly impact run scoring and can shift totals and moneyline odds. Lineup changes, starting pitcher performance trends, and rest days for key position players influence market prices. Trade deadline activity or roster moves can alter team composition. Real-time updates during pre-game warm-ups, such as late scratches or unexpected pitching changes, often trigger sharp moves. Monitor team social media, beat reporters, and official MLB communications for breaking news that could shift market consensus.
