This event is for the upcoming EFL Championship game, scheduled for Wednesday, September 9, 2026 between Derby County FC and West Bromwich Albion FC.
The event covers three possible outcomes of the Derby vs West Bromwich professional EFL Championship soccer match scheduled for September 9, 2026: a win for Derby, a win for West Bromwich, or a tie, all determined after 90 minutes of play plus any stoppage time, but not including extra time or penalty kicks. Each market resolves to 'Yes' if its corresponding outcome occurs. If the match ends in a tie after regular time, the 'Tie' market resolves to 'Yes.' Should the game be cancelled or rescheduled to more than 48 hours beyond the original date, all markets will resolve to a fair price in accordance with the event rules. Kalshi explicitly states it is not affiliated with the governing league, and all trademarks remain the property of their respective owners.
This market resolves to "YES" if the listed club wins after 90 minutes plus stoppage time, excluding extra time and penalty shootouts, in the match scheduled for September 9, 2026, 18:45 UTC. Otherwise, it will resolve to "NO." If the match is postponed, this market will remain open until the match has been completed. If the match is not completed as scheduled for any reason (for example, if it is abandoned, canceled, or awarded), and an official final result is recognized by the governing body or event organizers, this market will resolve based on that result. If no official final result is recognized and no make-up match is scheduled, this market will resolve "NO." Revisions to officially declared final scores made after market resolution will not be accounted for in determining the outcome.
Prediction market odds, like those found on Polymarket and Kalshi, often differ from traditional sportsbook odds due to the distinct mechanisms driving price discovery. Sportsbooks set odds based on statistical models and expert analysis, incorporating a profit margin. In contrast, this market’s probabilities are determined by individuals trading based on their own information and beliefs, creating a more decentralized and potentially more accurate assessment. While both aim to predict the same event, prediction markets can sometimes offer more nuanced insights and react more quickly to new information, leading to discrepancies in implied probabilities.
Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Prices on Polymarket and Kalshi may diverge due to variations in user base, trading fees, and market-specific rules. Each platform attracts different types of traders with varying levels of expertise and access to information. Furthermore, the liquidity and volume on each platform can influence price movements, with higher volume generally leading to tighter spreads. Differences in the way each platform handles order types and margin requirements can also contribute to price discrepancies. These factors combine to create distinct market dynamics for the Derby County vs. West Brom match on each venue.
