Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they serve different audiences and operate under different constraints. Sportsbooks set odds to balance liability and profit margin, while prediction markets are driven by trader supply and demand. This market's odds reflect real-money conviction from a diverse participant base, whereas sportsbooks may adjust lines based on sharp action or public betting patterns. Over time, prediction markets have shown accuracy in pricing uncertain outcomes, though sportsbook odds incorporate professional sports analysis and real-time injury reports. Comparing the two can reveal where market sentiment differs from professional oddsmaking.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker that allows traders to buy or sell shares of each outcome continuously. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of each outcome reflects the ratio of liquidity pools and adjusts in real time as trades occur. Traders profit by buying low and selling high, or by holding shares until resolution. The platform charges a small fee on each trade, which is factored into the bid-ask spread. Prices converge toward zero or one hundred as the event approaches and information becomes more certain.
This market resolves around Jul 18, 2026, once the second half of the match concludes and the result is verified against credible public sources. The outcome is determined by which team scores more goals in the second half alone. If both teams score an equal number of goals in the second half, the market reflects that tie outcome. Resolution occurs after official confirmation from the league or governing body, ensuring accuracy and preventing disputes. Traders holding winning shares receive their payout automatically upon settlement.
Several factors can shift odds before kickoff and during the match. Team news—such as injuries to key players, lineup announcements, or tactical changes—often triggers sharp price movement. Weather conditions, home-field advantage, and recent form of both squads influence trader positioning. During the second half itself, goals, red cards, or momentum swings will cause rapid repricing as new information emerges. Betting syndicates and sharp traders may also move the market based on proprietary analysis or live data. Close matches tend to see volatile pricing as uncertainty remains high until the final whistle.
