Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets like this one price outcomes based on trader belief and capital allocation. Sportsbooks may move lines faster in response to sharp money, whereas prediction markets can lag if retail traders dominate. Neither is inherently more accurate, but comparing the two reveals where professional bettors and everyday forecasters disagree on the Denver Summit FC versus Kansas City Current exact score.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker (AMM) mechanism where traders buy and sell outcome shares directly from a liquidity pool. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each exact-score outcome has its own share price, which adjusts based on the ratio of capital in the pool and cumulative trading volume. As more traders bet on a particular scoreline, that outcome's price rises and others fall, creating a continuous equilibrium. The platform charges a small fee on each trade, and prices reflect the collective forecast of all active participants.
