Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional sportsbook lines because they aggregate real-time trader conviction rather than following fixed betting spreads. Sportsbooks adjust odds to balance liability; prediction markets price based on continuous supply and demand. This market may show tighter or wider gaps depending on how confident traders are relative to professional oddsmakers. Comparing the two can reveal where public sentiment differs from bookmaker models, though both reflect underlying probability estimates for the opening goal.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker that converts trader orders into real-time probabilities. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each outcome—Denver Summit FC or Boston Legacy FC scoring first—has its own price contract that moves inversely as traders buy and sell. The sum of all outcome prices equals 100 cents, ensuring the market remains internally consistent. Prices update continuously during trading hours, reflecting new information and shifting trader expectations.

This market resolves around Aug 3, 2026, once the event concludes and the opening goal is verified. The outcome is determined by which team scores first during regulation play, confirmed against credible public sources such as official league records or major sports news outlets. Early resolution may occur if one team is mathematically eliminated or if the event is postponed indefinitely. Traders should monitor official announcements for any rule clarifications or timing changes.

Key catalysts include team injury announcements, lineup changes, weather conditions at kickoff, and recent form or head-to-head history. Tactical shifts—such as a team adopting a more aggressive early approach—can shift trader expectations about scoring pace. Breaking news regarding player availability or coaching decisions often triggers sharp price moves. As game time nears, final team news and betting syndicate activity typically drive the largest swings in this market.
