Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from sportsbook odds which can be influenced by factors like house bias or initial public perception. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action, while this market allows traders to freely express their beliefs about the likelihood of each team winning the 3rd quarter. It's common to see discrepancies, especially before significant events or when new information emerges. Comparing the two can offer a broader perspective on the potential outcome, though it’s important to remember they represent different approaches to forecasting.
On Kalshi, this market is priced using a continuous double auction. Traders buy and sell contracts representing each possible outcome—in this case, Delaware or Vanderbilt winning the 3rd quarter. The price of each contract reflects the probability of that outcome as perceived by the market participants. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the prices adjust, providing a dynamic assessment of the likelihood of each team’s success. The market depth shows the available buy and sell orders at different price points.
This market resolves around Sep 12, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the winning team of the 3rd quarter of the Delaware vs Vanderbilt game will determine the outcome. The final score of the 3rd quarter will be used to verify the winner. Traders who correctly predicted the winning team will receive a payout based on the final market price of their chosen contract at resolution. This market will close prior to the end of the game to allow for orderly settlement.
Several factors could influence the price of this market. Any news regarding player injuries, changes in coaching strategies, or even weather conditions could shift trader sentiment. Unexpected performance in the first half of the game, or even pre-game reports on team morale, could also cause significant movement. Public perception, as reflected in social media or expert analysis, can also play a role, as traders react to new information and adjust their predictions accordingly. Major upsets in other games that impact team standings could indirectly affect this market as well.
