Typically, prediction market odds reflect a different set of information and incentives than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, while this market allows traders to directly assess probabilities. It's common to see discrepancies emerge, particularly as new information becomes available or as public sentiment shifts. While sportsbooks may initially set odds based on expert analysis, this market benefits from the wisdom of the crowd, potentially leading to more accurate predictions as the event approaches. Examining these differences can reveal valuable insights into market perceptions.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders participate, the price adjusts to reflect the collective assessment of the market. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current price reflects the aggregated sentiment of all traders on Polymarket, making it a dynamic indicator of expectations for the DEL championship. The market's efficiency depends on active participation and the availability of relevant information.

Several factors could influence the price of shares in this market. Key player injuries or unexpected roster changes for either EHC Red Bull München or Löwen Frankfurt would likely cause significant shifts. Game results during the playoff series will be major catalysts, with each win or loss impacting the perceived probability of each team winning the championship. Any news regarding team morale, coaching decisions, or strategic adjustments could also move the market. Finally, broader hockey news or upsets in other playoff series might indirectly affect sentiment and trading activity within this market.
