Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different mechanisms. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets price outcomes through continuous trading among participants with real financial stakes. This market aggregates the collective judgment of traders rather than a single operator's view. Over time, prediction markets tend to incorporate breaking news and shifting sentiment faster than traditional sportsbooks adjust their lines, making them a useful barometer of real-time probability shifts.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through an order-book mechanism where traders submit bids and asks for shares tied to each outcome. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Prices range from 0 to 100 cents per share, with each cent representing a 1% probability increment. When a buyer and seller agree on a price, the trade executes and the market price updates. This continuous auction model ensures that prices reflect the marginal trader's assessment in real time, creating a transparent and efficient pricing process throughout the trading window.
This market resolves around Jul 26, 2026, after the first half of the match concludes. The outcome is determined by which team holds the lead when the referee signals the end of the first half. Once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting, the market settles to reflect the actual result. Traders holding shares in the winning outcome receive their payout, while losing positions expire worthless.
Several factors can shift prices in this market before kickoff and during the first half. Team news—injuries, lineup changes, or tactical announcements—often triggers sharp moves. Weather conditions, recent form, and head-to-head records influence trader positioning. Once the match begins, early goals, red cards, or momentum swings typically drive rapid repricing. Major injuries or unexpected tactical shifts during play can also reshape expectations. Traders monitor live commentary and official team updates to adjust their positions, making the market highly responsive to unfolding events.
