This prediction market asks which team will score the first goal in a soccer match between D.C. United and Atlanta United. The market considers goals scored within the first 90 minutes of regular play plus stoppage time. A 'Neither' outcome is possible if no goals are scored during that period.
In the upcoming match between D.C. United SC and Atlanta United FC, scheduled for September 12, 2026 at 7:30 PM ET: This market will resolve to "D.C. United SC" if D.C. United SC are the first to score within the first 90 minutes of regular play plus stoppage time. This market will resolve to "Atlanta United FC" if Atlanta United FC are the first to score within the first 90 minutes of regular play plus stoppage time. If neither team scores within the first 90 minutes of regular play plus stoppage time, this market will resolve "Neither". If the game is postponed, this market will remain open until the game has been completed. If the game is canceled entirely, with no make-up game, this market will resolve to "Neither". This market refers only to the outcome within the first 90 minutes of regular play plus stoppage time. Extra time and penalty shoot-outs are excluded. The primary resolution source for this market is the official statistics of the event as recognized by the governing body or event organizers. However, if the governing body or event organizers have not published final match statistics within 2 hours after the event's conclusion, data from Flashscore may be used; if Flashscore data is unavailable, data from Sofascore may be used; if neither is available, a consensus of credible reporting may be used instead. All markets will settle based on the official final result as recognized by the governing body or event organizers. Revisions to officially declared final scores made after market resolution will not be accounted for in determining the outcome.
The markets resolve based on whether the specified team scores more than the designated point threshold in the Atlanta vs Pittsburgh Pro Football game scheduled for September 13, 2026. Each market corresponds to a different point total threshold for each team. If the team scores strictly more than the stated threshold, the market resolves to 'Yes'; otherwise, it resolves to 'No'. All markets are independent, meaning the resolution of one does not affect the others. The governing league's official scoring and statistics will determine the outcome. Prediction market odds, like those found on Polymarket and Kalshi, often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of traders, potentially offering a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks typically set odds based on statistical models and expert analysis, while this market allows anyone to participate and express their beliefs. This can lead to discrepancies, as prediction markets can sometimes incorporate information not fully accounted for by sportsbooks, such as insider knowledge or subtle shifts in public sentiment. However, both aim to accurately forecast the probability of events, and both can be valuable tools for informed decision-making.
Several factors could influence trading activity and shift the odds in this market. Late-breaking news regarding player injuries or suspensions for either D.C. United SC or Atlanta United FC would likely have a significant impact. Changes in weather conditions, such as heavy rain or strong winds, could also affect the perceived likelihood of each team scoring first. Additionally, any pre-match analysis or expert opinions predicting a specific outcome could sway traders’ sentiment and drive price movements. Unexpected lineup announcements could also be a catalyst.
