Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance action, while this market's price is driven purely by supply and demand. Discrepancies can arise due to differing opinions on player form, injuries, or even external factors influencing the match, offering potential value for informed traders.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders who believe in a particular outcome, the higher the price of its corresponding shares will climb, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing reflects the aggregated intelligence of the crowd and adjusts in real-time based on new information and trading activity.
