Prediction market odds, like those found on Polymarket and Kalshi, often differ from traditional sportsbook odds due to the wisdom of the crowd and the incentive structure. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and ensure profit, while prediction markets allow participants to directly express their beliefs, creating a more accurate forecast. This market reflects a collective assessment of the fighters' chances, potentially revealing insights not fully captured by sportsbook algorithms. Discrepancies can also arise from differing levels of information available to each, and the potential for informed traders to exploit mispricings in either venue.
Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Prices on Polymarket and Kalshi may diverge due to variations in user base, trading activity, and market-specific rules. Polymarket currently favors submission as the winning method at 97 percent, while Kalshi leans toward Hugo Guillon winning outright. These differences can stem from varying liquidity levels on each platform, leading to price discovery happening at different rates. Additionally, the types of traders active on each platform—professional versus casual—can influence pricing dynamics, resulting in distinct probabilities for the same event.
