This event tracks various point-spread outcomes for an upcoming professional basketball game between two teams. Each outcome represents a different margin of victory, allowing participants to speculate on the exact competitiveness of the match. The resolution depends solely on the official game result and its point differential.
All markets resolve based on the official point differential from the Dallas vs Houston Pro Basketball game scheduled for Oct 21, 2026. If Houston wins by exceeding the specified point margin defined in each market (ranging from 1.5 to 33.5 points), that market resolves to Yes; if Dallas wins by exceeding its respective margin (1.5 to 18.5 points), that market resolves to Yes. If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original time, all markets remain open and resolve based on the final result. If the game is cancelled or does not start within 48 hours of the scheduled time, all markets resolve to a fair price. Kalshi disclaims any affiliation with the governing league, and all trademarks remain property of their respective owners.
Often, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and risk management, while this market aggregates the predictions of many individuals. If a significant discrepancy exists, it may suggest that the market believes the sportsbook is mispricing the probability of a particular outcome. However, it’s important to remember that both represent probabilities, and neither is guaranteed to be accurate. The difference can also be attributed to differing levels of information and analysis incorporated into each.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing different point spreads. The price of each contract reflects the market’s collective belief about the probability of that spread occurring. As more traders participate, the price adjusts to reflect new information and changing expectations. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price discovery process is driven by supply and demand, with buyers pushing prices up and sellers pushing prices down, ultimately establishing a consensus view on the likely outcome of the game.
This market resolves around Oct 22, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final point spread will be determined by the official result of the Dallas versus Houston game. The market will settle to 100 if the actual point spread falls within the range of the purchased contract, and to 0 otherwise. Traders holding contracts on the winning side of the spread will receive a payout, while those on the losing side will forfeit their investment.
Several factors could influence the price of this market leading up to Oct 22, 2026. News regarding injuries to key players on either team would likely have a significant impact, as would any changes in coaching strategies or weather forecasts. Unexpected developments in team performance during practice or pre-game warmups could also shift market sentiment. Furthermore, large trading volume from informed participants could indicate new information or a change in expectations, causing the market to react accordingly. Public opinion and analyst predictions may also play a role, though to a lesser extent.
