Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance action, while this market’s probabilities are driven by traders willing to put their capital behind their beliefs. If a significant discrepancy exists between prediction market probabilities and sportsbook odds, it may indicate that the market perceives information differently than the sportsbook, or that one venue has more efficient pricing. It’s valuable to compare both to form a more informed opinion.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders who believe a particular outcome will happen, the higher the price of its shares will rise, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market odds are constantly updated based on the latest information and collective intelligence of traders.
