Prediction market odds on this market often diverge from traditional sportsbook lines because they reflect decentralized trader sentiment rather than set bookmaker adjustments. While sportsbooks may offer point spreads or over/under totals, this market lets participants bet on the precise score, capturing nuanced expectations about both teams' performance. The implied probabilities here can show sharper or more volatile shifts, especially as new information emerges, making comparisons with sportsbook odds insightful for spotting potential value or consensus gaps.
On Polymarket and Kalshi, pricing differences arise from varying user bases, liquidity levels and market mechanics. Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. For instance, one platform might have deeper volume or more active traders for certain scorelines, skewing its odds. Additionally, each venue sets its own fee structure, which can influence price discovery. These factors combined often lead to divergent chances for the same outcome, allowing arbitrage opportunities or simply reflecting different risk assessments among participants.
