Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets like this one are driven by traders risking real capital on their beliefs. Prediction markets tend to be more efficient at incorporating late-breaking information and sharp trader insight, though sportsbooks may have deeper liquidity in certain markets. Comparing the two can reveal where consensus differs and highlight potential value in either venue.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker that converts trader buy and sell orders into real-time probabilities. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each outcome has a price between 0 and 1 (or 0–100 cents), reflecting the collective belief of all traders. When you buy a share of an outcome, you're betting that outcome will occur; if it does, your share pays out at full value. The more traders buy a particular outcome, the higher its price rises, naturally balancing supply and demand without a traditional order book.

This market resolves around Aug 2, 2026, once the match concludes and the first goal scorer is verified against credible public reporting. The outcome is determined by which team scores the opening goal in regular play. No other factors—such as own goals, penalty shootouts, or subsequent events—affect the resolution. Traders holding shares in the correct outcome receive their payout once the result is confirmed and the market is officially settled.

Team news—injuries to key strikers, lineup announcements, or tactical shifts—can significantly shift odds as traders reassess scoring probability. Recent form, head-to-head records, and home-field advantage also influence pricing. Betting market activity and sharp money flowing into one side can signal informed conviction and trigger price movement. Weather conditions, referee assignments, and pre-match commentary from analysts may also prompt traders to adjust positions. As kickoff approaches, any late-breaking developments typically trigger rapid repricing across the market.
