This market refers to the Counter-Strike match between mellren and Phantom Academy in the ESEA Advanced Europe Regular Season, initially scheduled for July 16 at 2:30PM ET. This market will resolve to "mellren" if mellren win the match against Phantom Academy. This market will resolve to " Phantom Academy" if Phantom Academy win the match against mellren. If the match is canceled (not played at all), ends in a tie, or is delayed beyond 7 days from the scheduled date without a winner determined, this market will resolve to 50-50. If the match begins but is not completed, and one team wins due to the opponent's forfeiture, disqualification, or walkover, this market will resolve to the team who wins. If the match ends in a forfeit, disqualification, or walkover (team withdraws before the start and the other wins automatically), this market will resolve to 50-50. The resolution source for this market will be official information from https://hltv.org. However, if https://hltv.org has not published final results within 2 hours after the event’s conclusion, a consensus of credible reporting may be used instead including video evidence. In cases where a team’s listed name includes minor discrepancies from the resolution source, this market will resolve based on the underlying real-world match rather than exact name matching. Recognizable abbreviations, alternate or erroneous spellings, sponsor tags, affiliate or academy designations, regional identifiers, and minor formatting differences will be treated as referring to the same team, provided the intended team can be clearly and uniquely identified within the relevant competition. If a listed team name has no reasonable connection to any participating team, or if it matches or could reasonably refer to another team in the same competition such that the intended team cannot be unambiguously determined, this market will resolve 50-50.

Prediction market odds and traditional sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. On Polymarket, traders stake real capital and face direct financial consequences, which can sharpen price discovery. Sportsbooks, by contrast, balance action across both sides and adjust lines to manage risk rather than purely reflect belief. For this market, comparing the current prediction market price to major esports sportsbooks reveals whether bettors on each venue expect the same outcome. Prediction markets sometimes lead sportsbooks in incorporating late-breaking roster or form changes, while sportsbooks may have deeper historical data on team matchups.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker or order-book mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing each possible outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current odds reflect the collective belief of all active traders; as new information emerges—such as player availability or recent team performance—prices adjust in real time. Traders profit by buying undervalued outcomes and selling overvalued ones, which naturally pushes prices toward fair value. The spread between bid and ask prices indicates how confident the market is in its pricing; tighter spreads suggest higher certainty.
This market resolves around Jul 20, 2026, once the match concludes and the result is verifiable from credible public reporting. The outcome is determined by the final score and winner of the best-of-one Counter-Strike contest between the two teams. Traders holding positions on the winning side receive their payout, while those on the losing side forfeit their stake. Resolution typically occurs within hours of the match end, allowing quick settlement and capital redeployment to other events.
Several factors can shift odds before the match plays out. Roster announcements—such as a key player being unavailable or a last-minute substitution—often trigger sharp price moves. Recent tournament results or head-to-head records between the teams may prompt traders to reassess win probabilities. Map selection, if announced in advance, can favor one team's strengths and reshape market sentiment. Social media updates, coach statements, or leaked practice footage can also influence trader confidence. As the match start time approaches, late-breaking news tends to drive the most volatile repricing, especially if it contradicts earlier expectations.
