Unified Resolution Criteria (Consistent across platforms)

Kalshi and Polymarket share identical resolution logic for match winner, map winners, and total maps, with consistent edge-case handling and a unified primary source (HLTV.org).Primary resolution logic: Official HLTV.org match results; credible reporting (including video evidence) permitted if HLTV.org does not publish within 2 hours of event conclusion.

Core resolution logic:

  • Match Winner: Resolves to the team that wins the best-of-three series (first to 2 map wins).
  • Map 1 Winner: Resolves to the team that wins Map 1, provided Map 1 is completed; if Map 1 is not completed, resolves 50-50.
  • Map 2 Winner: Resolves to the team that wins Map 2, provided Map 2 is completed; if Map 2 is not completed, resolves 50-50.
  • Total Maps (O/U 2.5): Resolves Over if 3 or more maps are played; resolves Under if fewer than 3 maps are played. Maps won by forfeit, disqualification, or walkover count if the match is completed.
  • Team Name Matching: Minor name discrepancies, abbreviations, sponsor tags, academy designations, and formatting differences are treated as referring to the same team if the intended team can be clearly identified.
  • Completed Match Requirement: A match is considered completed if one team clinches the series or if a clinching map is forfeited.

Edge cases & clarifications:

  • Cancellation or No Play: If the match is canceled entirely or delayed beyond 7 days from the scheduled date without play beginning, all markets resolve 50-50.
  • Incomplete Match with No Winner: If the match begins but does not complete and no team wins by forfeit, disqualification, or walkover, match winner and total maps markets resolve 50-50. Individual map markets resolve 50-50 if that map is not completed.
  • Pre-Match Forfeit or Walkover: If a team forfeits, is disqualified, or withdraws before the match starts, the match winner and total maps markets resolve 50-50.
  • Completed Match with In-Match Forfeit: If the match begins and one team wins due to opponent forfeit, disqualification, or walkover during play, the match resolves to the winning team. If the clinching map is forfeited, the match is considered completed and total maps resolves based on maps played.
  • Tie or Draw: If the match ends in a tie or draw, all markets resolve 50-50.
Timing: Resolution occurs upon official publication by HLTV.org or within 2 hours after the event's conclusion via credible reporting. Markets remain open until the match concludes or the 7-day delay threshold is exceeded. Our PredictionHero Resolution Divergence Alerts (RDA) are there to help users identify potential differences across platforms. They do not replace or supersede the official rules and description of any prediction market. Users are solely responsible for reviewing and understanding the applicable rules and resolution criteria before placing any trade or bet. If you notice a potential inconsistency, discrepancy, or error in an alert, please report it to our team so we can review and improve the accuracy of our data.

This market will resolve to "Alzon" if Alzon win the match against BESTIA Academy. This market will resolve to "BESTIA Academy" if BESTIA Academy win the match against Alzon. If the match begins but is not completed, and one team wins due to the opponent's forfeiture, disqualification, or walkover, this market will resolve to the team who wins. If the match ends in a forfeit, disqualification, or walkover (team withdraws before the start and the other wins automatically), this market will resolve to 50-50. The resolution source for this market will be official information from https://hltv.org. However, if https://hltv.org has not published final results within 2 hours after the event’s conclusion, a consensus of credible reporting may be used instead including video evidence. In cases where a team’s listed name includes minor discrepancies from the resolution source, this market will resolve based on the underlying real-world match rather than exact name matching. Recognizable abbreviations, alternate or erroneous spellings, sponsor tags, affiliate or academy designations, regional identifiers, and minor formatting differences will be treated as referring to the same team, provided the intended team can be clearly and uniquely identified within the relevant competition. If a listed team name has no reasonable connection to any participating team, or if it matches or could reasonably refer to another team in the same competition such that the intended team cannot be unambiguously determined, this market will resolve 50-50.

Frequently asked questions

Prediction markets like Polymarket and Kalshi differ fundamentally from traditional sportsbooks: they aggregate trader beliefs through continuous pricing rather than setting fixed lines. Sportsbooks manage risk and profit margins through juice; prediction markets reward accurate forecasting directly. For esports matchups, prediction markets often react faster to roster changes, recent form, and community sentiment because traders have direct financial incentive to price information efficiently. However, sportsbooks may offer tighter spreads on high-volume events. Comparing this market across platforms reveals how decentralized pricing discovers consensus without a central bookmaker.

Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Kalshi and Polymarket operate under different regulatory frameworks, fee structures, and user bases, causing price discovery to diverge even for identical outcomes. Kalshi's regulated environment and order-book model may attract institutional traders focused on precision, while Polymarket's automated market maker design suits retail participation and rapid repricing. Liquidity depth varies between venues, meaning large trades move prices differently on each platform. Geographic trader distribution, platform-specific incentives, and timing of information flow all contribute to the spread. Arbitrage traders work to close gaps, but temporary divergences persist due to withdrawal delays and platform-specific friction costs.
