Prediction market odds on this market often diverge from traditional sportsbook lines because they reflect decentralized trader sentiment rather than set odds from bookmakers. While sportsbooks may offer spread or over/under lines, prediction markets let participants bet on the exact score, creating a granular view of possible outcomes. The implied probabilities from platforms like Polymarket can show sharper differences, especially for less likely scores, due to the trading dynamics and the ability to hedge positions that isn't present in standard sportsbook betting.
Price differences between Polymarket and Kalshi arise from varying user bases, liquidity conditions, and trading activity. Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. For instance, if one platform has deeper volume in certain scorelines, its prices may reflect more precise trader expectations. Additionally, each venue may list slightly different fee structures or exposure limits, influencing how traders place bets and, consequently, how probabilities are priced. These factors combine to create divergent odds across platforms for this market.
