Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform attracts different trader demographics, liquidity pools, and settlement rule interpretations. Polymarket's order book may reflect a higher concentration of bettors focused on first-inning scoring, while Kalshi's winner market draws those pricing overall game outcome. Latency in cross-platform arbitrage, regional user bases, and fee structures also create temporary spreads. These gaps typically narrow as informed traders exploit mispricings, but they can persist if the two markets are genuinely pricing different event dimensions or if liquidity is shallow on one side.
Key catalysts include injury reports or roster changes announced before first pitch, weather conditions at the stadium, and pregame betting action on traditional sportsbooks. Bullpen availability, recent team form, and head-to-head matchup history can all shift trader sentiment. Live updates during the game—such as early scoring, pitching changes, or momentum swings—will drive sharp repricing on intraday markets. Monitor team news feeds and Vegas line movements for early signals; prediction markets often react within minutes of new information, so early movers can capture edge before consensus prices adjust.
