Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the dashboard for the Rockies-Dodgers first 5 innings market displays real-time odds on which team will lead after the first five innings of play. Traders can monitor the current price, historical price movements, and trading volume as the event approaches. The interface shows the probability implied by market participants, updated continuously as new trades execute. This market captures sentiment around early-game performance rather than the final outcome, making it distinct from traditional full-game betting. The dashboard provides all necessary data to track how market expectations shift leading up to first pitch.

Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and protect their margin, while prediction markets are driven purely by trader belief and capital allocation. This market may show different probabilities than traditional sportsbooks because traders on Polymarket are directly exposed to the outcome without a house edge built in. Both venues price the same underlying event, but market microstructure, liquidity, and participant sophistication can create meaningful differences. Comparing the two can reveal where consensus is strongest or where specialized knowledge may be undervalued.

On Polymarket, traders set prices through an automated market maker that adjusts odds based on buy and sell pressure. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current implied probability reflects the collective forecast of all active traders, with each transaction moving the price incrementally. Liquidity depth determines how much trading pressure is needed to shift odds meaningfully. As game time approaches, new information—lineups, weather, injury reports—typically drives repricing. The market remains open to trading until the event concludes, allowing participants to adjust positions based on evolving conditions.

This market resolves around Jul 8, 2026, once the first five innings of the game are complete and the result is verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by which team holds the lead after exactly five innings of play. If the score is tied after five innings, the market will resolve according to the platform's tie-handling rules. Resolution is typically confirmed within hours of game conclusion as official box scores are published. Traders should monitor the game live to anticipate the likely outcome before the market settles.

Lineup announcements, starting pitcher confirmation, and injury updates can shift odds significantly before first pitch. Weather conditions—wind direction and speed at the ballpark—often influence early-inning scoring dynamics and may prompt repricing. Betting syndicates or sharp money entering the market can create sudden moves if they identify value. Historical head-to-head performance in early innings and recent form of both teams' offenses and bullpens influence trader positioning. Once the game begins, each run scored, out recorded, or baserunner advanced will likely trigger incremental repricing as the five-inning window unfolds.
