Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the dashboard for the Rockies-Cubs first 5 innings market displays real-time odds on which team will lead after the first five innings of play. Traders buy and sell shares reflecting their conviction on the outcome, and the current price reflects the aggregate belief of all market participants. The interface shows the latest odds, historical price movements, and trading activity. You can monitor how sentiment shifts as game time approaches or as new information emerges about lineups and conditions. This live pricing mechanism allows you to track market confidence in either team's early-game performance throughout the trading window.

Prediction market odds and traditional sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and manage risk, while prediction markets are driven purely by trader belief and capital allocation. This market may show different implied probabilities than major sportsbooks, especially if one venue attracts sharper or more specialized bettors. Comparing the two can reveal where consensus is strongest or where outlier views exist. Many traders monitor both to identify value or spot shifts in market sentiment that haven't yet been reflected across all venues.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker that converts trader orders into real-time odds. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders purchase shares representing either outcome—Rockies or Cubs ahead after five innings—and the price adjusts continuously based on the ratio of shares bought and sold. Deeper liquidity and larger trades move the odds less, while thinner order flow can produce sharper swings. The platform displays the current implied probability for each outcome, allowing you to see at a glance what the market believes is most likely. As new information surfaces or game time nears, prices update to reflect fresh conviction.

This market resolves around Jun 17, 2026, once the game result is verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by which team holds the lead after exactly five complete innings of play. If the score is tied after five innings, the market will settle according to the platform's rules for that scenario. Traders should monitor the game closely as the resolution window approaches to ensure they understand the final score at that specific checkpoint. Any official corrections or clarifications from the league will be reflected in the final settlement.

Several factors can shift odds before the game begins and during the first five innings. Lineup announcements, injury updates, and weather conditions often trigger repricing as traders adjust their conviction. Starting pitcher performance, early offensive momentum, and defensive plays all influence how traders reassess the likelihood of either team leading at the five-inning mark. Breaking news about player availability or last-minute roster changes can cause sharp moves. Once play begins, runs scored, base runners left on, and momentum swings will drive continuous price adjustments. Traders watching this market in real time can capitalize on these signals as they emerge.
