Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets like this one are driven by traders seeking to profit on accurate forecasts. Sportsbooks may adjust lines faster to manage risk, whereas prediction markets can lag if fewer traders are active. Over time, both tend to converge toward true probabilities, but at any given moment this market's odds may offer a different perspective on the likelihood of each outcome than what traditional sportsbooks display.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order-book mechanism where traders submit bids and asks for shares representing each outcome. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of each share reflects the probability traders assign to that outcome, ranging from near-zero to near-100 cents. As new information emerges or sentiment shifts, traders adjust their orders, and the market price updates in real time. This dynamic pricing ensures the odds always represent the latest consensus among active participants on whether Cleveland or Chicago will be ahead after five innings.
This market resolves around Jun 24, 2026, once the first five innings of the game are complete and the final score for that period is confirmed. The outcome is verified against credible public sources to determine which team was ahead after exactly five innings. Traders who backed the correct outcome receive their winnings, while those on the losing side forfeit their stake. The resolution is straightforward and objective, tied solely to the official inning score at the five-inning mark.
Several factors can shift odds before the game begins and during the first five innings. Injury announcements, lineup changes, or weather updates affecting playing conditions can trigger sharp moves. Early game momentum—runs scored, pitcher performance, or defensive plays—will drive real-time trading as the first five innings unfold. Betting action from sharp money or public sentiment swings can also accelerate price moves. Additionally, any breaking news about team strategy or player availability closer to game time may cause traders to reassess their positions and adjust their bids accordingly.
