Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets like this one are driven by traders risking real capital on their beliefs about the outcome. Sportsbooks may adjust lines faster in response to injury news or public betting patterns, whereas prediction markets aggregate dispersed information from many independent traders. Neither is inherently more accurate, but comparing the two can reveal where consensus breaks down and highlight potential value in either venue.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order-book mechanism where traders submit bids and asks for contracts representing different outcomes. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of each contract reflects the collective probability that traders assign to that outcome, with contracts trading between $0 and $1. As new information emerges—lineups, weather, injury updates—traders adjust their positions, moving prices up or down. You can place limit or market orders to enter or exit positions at your preferred price level, and the market remains open until close time.
This market resolves around Jun 23, 2026, once the first five innings of the game are complete and the result is verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by the official box score and game records, which confirm which team scored more runs or achieved the specified condition during that five-inning span. Resolution happens automatically after the event concludes and data is confirmed, at which point winning positions are paid out and losing positions expire worthless.
Several catalysts can shift odds before this market closes. Lineup announcements, especially confirmation of starting pitchers and key batters, often trigger sharp moves as traders reassess run-scoring potential. Weather updates—wind direction, temperature, humidity—affect ball carry and can influence early-inning scoring. Injury reports or late roster changes alter team composition and offensive firepower. Breaking news about player performance or team momentum heading into the game also influences trader positioning. As game time nears, these signals compress into the final price, making early-market moves particularly valuable for informed traders.
