Polymarket and Predict can show different probabilities for the same game due to variations in liquidity, user base composition, and trading mechanics. Polymarket and Predict can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Smaller or newer platforms may have thinner order books, allowing large trades to move prices more sharply. Geographic and demographic differences in trader populations can also create persistent gaps—one platform may attract more sharp bettors while another draws casual players. Arbitrage traders often exploit these spreads, but temporary divergences remain common, especially during low-volume periods or when one platform updates faster than the other.
Key catalysts include injury announcements to star players, bullpen availability, recent team form, and weather conditions on game day. Lineup changes, trades, or roster moves closer to first pitch can shift trader conviction significantly. Betting market activity and sharp money flowing into one side often signals informed positioning and can trigger rapid repricing. Breaking news about player health, umpire assignments, or field conditions in the hours before the game typically generates the most volatile price swings. Monitor team news feeds and social media for real-time updates that could reshape the implied odds.
