Polymarket and Kalshi use distinct contract designs and trader populations, which naturally produces pricing divergence. Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Polymarket may frame the outcome as a simple win-or-lose proposition, while Kalshi could embed additional conditions such as run-margin thresholds. Liquidity concentration, fee structures, and the timing of large trades also influence each platform's quoted price. Arbitrage opportunities between the two venues attract sophisticated traders, but transaction costs and settlement risk often prevent complete price convergence. Monitoring both platforms reveals which interpretation of early-game dominance the broader prediction market community favors.
Starting pitcher announcements, injury reports, and weather conditions at game time are primary catalysts for price movement in this market. Bullpen availability and recent offensive form against each team's early-inning pitchers also influence trader sentiment. Line-up changes or unexpected roster moves can shift expectations about run production in the opening frames. As game time approaches, live betting action and sharp money flowing into one side may accelerate price shifts. Real-time score updates during the first five innings will drive final adjustments, with each run or defensive play potentially swinging the odds until the market closes at the end of the fifth inning.
