PredictionHero - Resolution Divergence Alerts (RDA)

Divergence Detected

Issue: Kalshi markets measure aggregate run thresholds (binary YES/NO per threshold), while Polymarket markets measure relative team performance (winner/loser/tie). Both reference the same 5-inning window but resolve on fundamentally different metrics.Hero tip: Do not assume Kalshi and Polymarket positions offset each other. A high-scoring game (Kalshi YES on all thresholds) could still result in a Polymarket Draw or either team winning. Treat these as independent outcome spaces and size positions accordingly.

Critical divergence points:

  • Kalshi: Seven separate binary markets on combined run totals. Each resolves YES if Cincinnati + Milwaukee collectively exceed a specific threshold (0.5, 1.5, 2.5, 3.5, 4.5, 5.5, 6.5 runs) in the first 5 innings. Resolution is purely aggregate-based and independent of which team scores.
  • Polymarket: Three categorical markets: Cincinnati Reds winning after 5 innings, Milwaukee Brewers winning after 5 innings, or Tied after 5 innings. Resolution depends on relative score, not aggregate total. Includes tie-breaker logic (postponement, cancellation 50-50 split) and official MLB statistics as primary source.
Our PredictionHero Resolution Divergence Alerts (RDA) are there to help users identify potential differences across platforms. They do not replace or supersede the official rules and description of any prediction market. Users are solely responsible for reviewing and understanding the applicable rules and resolution criteria before placing any trade or bet. If you notice a potential inconsistency, discrepancy, or error in an alert, please report it to our team so we can review and improve the accuracy of our data.

Frequently asked questions

Prediction markets like Polymarket and Kalshi differ from traditional sportsbooks in that traders themselves set prices through continuous buying and selling rather than oddsmakers posting fixed lines. This market-driven approach often reflects sharper, more dynamic pricing because participants have direct financial incentive to correct mispricings. Sportsbooks typically build in wider margins and adjust lines to manage liability, whereas prediction markets compress spreads through competition. For the first five innings outcome, comparing this market's implied probabilities to your sportsbook's moneyline or run-line odds can reveal value opportunities, especially as new injury reports or weather updates surface.

Polymarket and Kalshi operate under different regulatory frameworks, user bases, and liquidity conditions, which naturally produces price divergence. Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform's fee structure, settlement rules, and trader demographics influence how quickly information gets priced in. Polymarket may attract more traditional sports bettors, while Kalshi draws a broader crypto-native audience, leading to different risk preferences and time horizons. Arbitrage traders exploit these gaps, but temporary spreads persist due to withdrawal friction and platform-specific trading costs. Monitoring both venues helps you identify which side of this market offers better value.

Lineup announcements, starting pitcher confirmations, and injury updates for key batters or pitchers will shift trader positioning significantly. Weather conditions at the ballpark—wind direction, temperature, and humidity—affect ball carry and scoring likelihood. Betting market action on the full-game moneyline and run totals often bleeds into early-inning markets as sharp bettors hedge positions. Recent team performance, head-to-head records, and bullpen availability also influence how traders price early-game edges. As game time approaches, any last-minute roster changes or weather delays can trigger sharp repricing across both platforms.
