Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform attracts different trader demographics, liquidity pools, and fee structures, causing prices to diverge. Polymarket and Kalshi may also resolve outcomes using slightly different timing or data sources, incentivizing arbitrage. Lower liquidity on one platform can amplify price swings, while regulatory or technical differences between exchanges create friction. Monitoring both venues helps you identify mispricings and understand which platform's crowd is more informed on this particular matchup.
Key catalysts include injury announcements to star players, lineup changes, recent team performance trends, and weather conditions on game day. Betting line movement at major sportsbooks often precedes prediction market shifts, so monitoring those can give you an edge. Breaking news about player availability, managerial decisions, or unexpected roster moves can trigger sharp repricing. Trading volume spikes typically accompany these events, so watching for unusual activity can help you time your trades before the broader market reacts.
