Typically, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often include a 'vig' or commission, influencing the implied probability. This market, driven by the collective intelligence of traders on Polymarket, aims to reflect the true probability of an outcome as perceived by the crowd. While sportsbooks may initially set odds based on expert analysis, prediction markets can quickly adjust based on new information and changing sentiment. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially as the event approaches and more information becomes available.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, the price increases, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing allows the market to efficiently aggregate information and reflect the collective wisdom of the crowd. The current price reflects the overall sentiment surrounding the Chumak vs. Sydorenko match.
