Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the dashboard for the White Sox-Guardians first 5 innings market displays real-time odds on which team will lead after the first five innings of play. Traders can monitor the current price, historical price movements, and trading volume to gauge market sentiment. The interface shows the probability implied by active trading, updated continuously as new bets flow in. This snapshot helps participants track how confidence shifts as game time approaches and throughout the early innings, providing transparency into collective expectations before the full nine-inning result is determined.

Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they serve different purposes and operate under different constraints. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets reflect pure trader belief without a built-in house edge. This market aggregates the views of many independent traders rather than a single oddsmaker, sometimes producing sharper or more efficient pricing. However, sportsbooks may move faster on breaking news or injury reports, whereas prediction markets respond more gradually as traders update positions.

On Polymarket, traders buy and sell shares representing each outcome, with the share price reflecting the implied probability. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market price adjusts in real time as new trades execute, meaning early movers can lock in favorable odds before consensus shifts. Liquidity and trading volume influence how quickly prices respond to new information. Participants can enter or exit positions at any time before the market closes, allowing for dynamic hedging and position management as the game approaches and unfolds.

This market resolves around Jul 3, 2026, once the first five innings of the game are complete and the result is verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by which team holds the lead after exactly five innings of play. If the score is tied after five innings, the market outcome reflects that tie. Resolution is straightforward and objective, tied directly to the official game record rather than subjective interpretation.

Key catalysts include lineup announcements, starting pitcher confirmations, and injury updates that affect either team's early-game strength. Weather conditions at game time—wind direction, temperature, and humidity—can influence early scoring patterns. Recent team form, bullpen availability, and head-to-head matchup history also shape trader expectations. As game time nears, any last-minute roster changes or weather developments will likely trigger sharp repricing. Once play begins, early runs, defensive plays, and pitcher performance in the first few innings will drive rapid market adjustments.
