Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform attracts different trader demographics, liquidity pools, and fee structures. Polymarket and Kalshi may frame the same event slightly differently—for example, one platform might emphasize tied outcomes while another focuses on outright winners. Market depth, order flow timing, and platform-specific incentives can cause temporary price gaps. Arbitrage traders often exploit these spreads, but differences persist due to varying user bases, regulatory constraints, and settlement mechanics across venues.
Injury reports, lineup changes, and bullpen availability announcements can shift odds significantly before game time. Starting pitcher performance, weather conditions at game time, and recent team form in early innings all influence trader positioning. As first pitch approaches, live betting activity and sharp money flowing into one side often accelerates price movement. Breaking news on roster decisions or umpire assignments may also trigger repricing, while early-game action itself—runs scored in the first inning or two—can cause rapid adjustments as traders update their expectations for the full five-inning span.
