Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they serve different purposes. Sportsbooks set odds to balance their book and manage risk, incorporating a built-in margin. Prediction markets, by contrast, aggregate trader beliefs through continuous price discovery—there is no house margin. This market reflects what thousands of independent traders believe will occur, making it a pure consensus mechanism. Sportsbook odds may lag market-moving information, while prediction markets typically price in breaking news faster. Both can be useful signals, but they operate on fundamentally different economic models.
On Polymarket, traders set the price of this market through an automated market maker (AMM) mechanism. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Buyers and sellers place orders, and the contract price moves based on supply and demand. Each outcome is represented as a separate tradable share, and the sum of all outcome prices always equals one dollar. As traders buy or sell shares in response to new information—team news, injury reports, or live match developments—the price adjusts in real time. This continuous repricing ensures the market stays efficient and reflects the latest available information.
This market resolves around Jul 18, 2026, once the second half result is final and verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome will be confirmed based on the official match result reported by the league or authoritative sports data providers. Until that point, traders can continue to buy and sell positions as new information emerges during play. Resolution is automatic once the event concludes and the data is available, so there is no manual review or discretion involved in determining which outcome occurred.
Several factors could shift prices before resolution. Early first-half performance—goals, red cards, or tactical adjustments—often influences second-half expectations. Injury announcements or substitution patterns may signal a team's intent or capability. Weather conditions, crowd momentum, and halftime commentary can all sway trader sentiment. Major tactical changes or unexpected team news just before kickoff could trigger sharp moves. Live match flow is the primary driver: if one team dominates the first half, traders will reprice the second-half outcome accordingly. Monitor team lineups, injury reports, and real-time match developments for the strongest signals.
