Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform operates distinct order books, user bases, and fee structures, which naturally creates temporary price gaps. Polymarket and Kalshi may also attract different trader demographics—some favor one venue's interface or regulatory framework. Liquidity depth varies between platforms, meaning large trades can move prices differently on each. Additionally, platform-specific rules around order cancellation, leverage, and settlement timing can influence how traders position, causing the odds to drift apart until arbitrageurs exploit the spread.
Lineup announcements, starting pitcher confirmations, and injury reports will likely shift odds as traders reassess team strength. Weather conditions at game time—wind direction, temperature, humidity—affect ball carry and can influence early-inning scoring. Recent team performance, bullpen availability, and head-to-head matchup history also drive repricing. As first pitch approaches, any late-breaking roster changes or umpire assignments may trigger sharp moves. During the game itself, early runs, defensive plays, and pitcher effectiveness in the first few innings will cause rapid adjustments until the fifth inning concludes.
