On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker that adjusts odds continuously as traders buy and sell shares representing each outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of each outcome reflects the aggregate probability assigned by the market; as more capital flows into Cubs or Orioles shares, the price of that outcome rises and its implied probability increases. Traders can enter or exit positions at any time before the market closes, and the spread between bid and ask prices typically tightens as volume and interest grow.
This market resolves around Jul 7, 2026, once the first five innings of the Cubs-Orioles game are complete and the result is verifiable from credible public sources. The winner is determined by which team has the higher run total at the end of the fifth inning; ties are possible and may be handled according to the platform's standard tie-resolution rules. Early resolution can occur if the game is called or postponed before five innings are played, in which case the market outcome will reflect the applicable contingency protocol.
Key catalysts include injury reports or roster changes affecting either team's starting lineup or pitching staff, weather conditions at game time, and recent team performance trends. Betting action and sharp money flowing into one side can also shift odds significantly. Real-time in-game events—such as early runs, errors, or pitching changes—will drive price movement once play begins. Pre-game news, lineup announcements, and public sentiment shifts can all influence trader positioning in the hours leading up to first pitch.
