This event tracks strikeouts recorded by starting pitchers during the Chicago Cubs vs Baltimore Orioles game on July 7, 2026. Strikeouts are counted when a pitcher records three strikes against a batter.
Settlement is based on strikeouts recorded by each starting pitcher during the game. A pitcher must be designated as a starting pitcher and record at least one pitch for the market to settle on actual performance; otherwise, it resolves to fair market price. Relief appearances do not count toward this metric. If a pitcher is scratched or is not a starting pitcher, the market resolves to fair market price regardless of any subsequent entry into the game.
Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and protect their margins, while prediction markets like this one are driven purely by trader conviction and real money at stake. Traders here profit directly from accuracy, creating stronger incentives to incorporate all available information. Over time, this market's odds tend to converge toward the true probability of the outcome, sometimes moving ahead of or diverging from traditional sportsbook pricing depending on which venue has fresher data or deeper liquidity.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through an order-book mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing "yes" or "no" outcomes. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of each share reflects the collective belief about the likelihood of the strikeout outcome, ranging from near zero to near one dollar. As new information emerges—injury reports, weather updates, lineup changes—traders adjust their positions, moving the price up or down. The current market price is the best available bid or ask, and all trades execute at transparent, real-time rates visible to every participant.
This market resolves around Jul 8, 2026, once the Chicago Cubs versus Baltimore Orioles game concludes and the final strikeout count is verified against credible public sources. The outcome is determined by the actual number of strikeouts recorded during the matchup, confirmed through official box scores and sports data providers. Traders holding the correct side of the prediction receive their payout, while incorrect positions expire worthless. Resolution is automatic once the event result is finalized and posted publicly.
Several catalysts can shift odds before the game begins. Roster announcements—particularly the starting pitcher for either team—carry major weight, since strikeout rates vary significantly by pitcher. Weather conditions, especially wind speed and temperature, influence how the ball carries and pitcher effectiveness. Injury updates to key batters or pitchers will trigger repricing. Line-up changes, bullpen availability, and pregame commentary from analysts or insiders can also sway trader sentiment. As game time approaches, late-breaking news tends to compress the market toward its final price.
