Prediction market odds and traditional sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets like this one are driven by traders seeking to profit from accurate forecasting. This market aggregates the collective judgment of many independent participants rather than relying on a single operator's assessment. Over time, prediction markets have demonstrated competitive accuracy against professional oddsmakers, particularly when the trader base is large and diverse, though direct comparison requires checking both venues simultaneously.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker mechanism where traders buy and sell outcome shares, and the price of each share reflects its implied probability. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders purchase shares for a particular outcome, that outcome's price rises, and alternative outcomes fall. The current price you see represents the market's real-time consensus on the likelihood of each second-half result. Liquidity and trading volume influence how easily you can enter or exit a position at the displayed price.
This market resolves around Jul 26, 2026, once the match between Comerciantes Unidos and Alianza Lima concludes and the second-half result is verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by what actually occurs during the second 45 minutes of the match—whether it ends in a draw, a win for one team, or another specified result. Resolution happens automatically once the event is confirmed, and all winning positions are paid out according to the market's rules.
Several factors could shift odds in this market before it resolves. Team news—such as injuries, suspensions, or lineup changes announced closer to kickoff—often triggers significant repricing. First-half performance is a major catalyst; if one team dominates the opening 45 minutes or falls behind, traders will adjust their expectations for the second half accordingly. Momentum swings, tactical adjustments at halftime, and real-time match developments all influence trader sentiment. Additionally, broader context like recent form, head-to-head history, and weather conditions can move prices as new information emerges or becomes more salient to the trading community.
