Often, prediction market odds can differ from those offered by traditional sportsbooks. This can occur due to differing opinions on the likely outcome, as well as the influence of information available to traders on Polymarket versus sportsbook oddsmakers. Sportsbooks may factor in a 'vig' or commission, while prediction markets allow traders to directly assess probabilities. It’s common to see this market move in response to news and analysis that might not be immediately reflected in sportsbook lines, potentially offering a different perspective on the event's likelihood.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where users buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of each player winning the Cassis tennis match. As more traders participate and express their views, the price adjusts accordingly. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price movements are driven by supply and demand, with increased buying pressure raising the price and increased selling pressure lowering it. This creates a dynamic and real-time assessment of the event's potential results.
