Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often incorporating information and analysis beyond what’s immediately available to sportsbooks. While sportsbooks set initial lines based on team or player statistics and expert opinions, this market allows anyone to trade based on their own insights. Therefore, you may find differences between the probabilities implied by Polymarket and those offered by traditional sportsbooks. These discrepancies can arise from differing opinions on player form, potential upsets, or even external factors influencing the match. It's valuable to compare both to gain a broader perspective.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of each outcome in the Cassis match. The price of these shares directly reflects the market's collective prediction. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the prices adjust accordingly, providing a dynamic assessment of the potential result. The current implied probabilities are determined by the ratio of shares traded for each possible outcome, offering a real-time gauge of expectations for the match.
