Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform attracts different trader demographics, fee structures, and regulatory frameworks that influence pricing. Polymarket typically draws larger volumes and may reflect broader consensus, while Kalshi may see specialized traders or different liquidity patterns. Arbitrage opportunities between platforms are limited by withdrawal friction and platform-specific rules, allowing price gaps to persist. Market depth, user base composition, and promotional activity also drive divergence. Savvy traders monitor both venues to identify mispricings and capitalize on temporary inefficiencies before equilibrium restores.
Team news—injuries to key players, lineup changes, or managerial decisions—often triggers sharp price swings. Recent form, head-to-head history, and qualification implications can shift trader sentiment significantly. Weather conditions on match day, venue factors, and late-breaking tactical announcements may also influence odds. Social media trends and expert commentary can amplify volatility, especially if a surprise narrative emerges. Close to kickoff, final team sheets and warm-up performance reports typically drive the largest repricing. Monitor sports media and platform activity closely for catalysts that reshape market conviction.
