Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and lock in profit margins, while prediction markets are driven purely by trader belief and capital allocation. For this market, prediction market participants may price Cape Verde's chances differently than traditional oddsmakers, particularly if retail or professional traders hold contrarian views on the team's 2026 prospects. Comparing the two can reveal where the broader betting public disagrees with prediction market consensus.

On Limitless, this market is priced through continuous order-book matching, where traders buy and sell shares representing yes or no outcomes. On Limitless, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current price reflects the marginal trade—the last executed transaction—and moves as new bids and asks arrive. Traders profit by correctly predicting whether Cape Verde will secure a World Cup victory, with payouts determined by the final price at market close. Liquidity and spreads vary with trading activity, so prices can shift rapidly around major news or team announcements.

This market resolves around Jul 20, 2026, after the 2026 FIFA World Cup concludes. The outcome is determined by whether Cape Verde wins at least one match during the tournament, verified against credible public reporting from FIFA and major sports news outlets. Once the final group stage and knockout results are confirmed, the market will settle to yes or no accordingly. Traders holding winning positions receive their payout shortly after resolution is finalized.

Key catalysts include Cape Verde's qualifying campaign performance, roster announcements, and coaching staff changes leading into 2026. Friendly match results, injuries to star players, and draws for the World Cup group stage will all influence trader positioning. Major upsets or strong showings by African nations in other competitions may shift perceptions of Cape Verde's competitive level. Media coverage of the team's preparation, sponsorship deals, and tournament infrastructure developments can also trigger price movements as traders reassess the probability of a match victory.
