Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can often differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market allows anyone to express their belief about the outcome. If sportsbook odds heavily favor one team, we might see a different probability distribution here, especially if there's strong public sentiment suggesting an upset. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information sources, risk assessments, or simply the collective intelligence of the prediction market participants.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the probability of each outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of the Calgary Stampeders or the Edmonton Elks winning. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate, the market price adjusts to reflect the collective assessment of the event’s likelihood. The more shares purchased for a particular team, the higher its price rises, indicating increased confidence in that team’s victory. This dynamic pricing ensures the market remains responsive to new information and evolving opinions.
This market resolves around Sep 19, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The result will be based on the official result of the Calgary Stampeders versus Edmonton Elks game, as reported by the CFL. The team with the highest score at the end of regulation time will be declared the winner, and that outcome will determine the settlement of shares in this market. Any overtime periods will be included in determining the final result.
Several factors could influence the price movement of this market before Sep 19, 2026. Any significant news regarding player injuries, changes in coaching staff, or unexpected team performance in preceding games could shift trader sentiment. Weather forecasts predicting adverse conditions during the game might also play a role, as could public announcements about team strategies or player availability. Major shifts in public opinion, reflected in sports news and analysis, could also drive changes in the market, as traders adjust their positions based on new information and evolving expectations.
