Prediction market odds and traditional sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set odds to balance their book and manage risk, while prediction markets aggregate the beliefs of many independent traders who profit or lose based on accuracy. Prediction markets typically incorporate real-time information more efficiently and can reveal crowd sentiment on outcomes that sportsbooks may underprice or overprice. Comparing this market's odds to major sportsbook lines can highlight where the crowd sees value or where consensus differs between venues.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker that converts trader positions into real-time probabilities. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders buy and sell shares representing each outcome, and the price of each share reflects the collective belief in that outcome's likelihood. As more capital flows into one side, the price adjusts accordingly. The current market price serves as the best available estimate of the probability that the second half will result in a particular outcome, updated instantly as new trades occur.
This market resolves around Jul 29, 2026, once the second half of the match concludes and the result is verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by which team scores more goals during the second half only, independent of the first-half score. Resolution occurs after the final whistle and official confirmation of the second-half result. Traders holding positions in the winning outcome receive their payout, while losing positions expire worthless.
Key catalysts include team news such as injuries, substitutions, or tactical changes announced before or during the match. First-half performance and scoreline heavily influence second-half expectations, as trailing teams may adopt more aggressive strategies while leading teams may defend conservatively. Weather conditions, referee decisions, and momentum shifts during play can all trigger rapid repricing. Social media sentiment, expert commentary, and live match statistics also drive trader behavior, causing the market to adjust as new information emerges closer to the final whistle.
