Often, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and to balance action, while this market reflects the wisdom of the crowd. If sportsbook odds significantly differ from those seen here, it could indicate disagreement about the true probability of an outcome. Discrepancies can arise from differing information sources, biases, or simply varying levels of market efficiency. It’s valuable to compare both to form a well-rounded view of the potential result.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares, the price increases, and vice versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current price reflects the aggregated predictions of all participants, offering a dynamic assessment of the event’s potential results. The market’s efficiency is driven by informed traders seeking to capitalize on perceived mispricings.
