Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance action, incorporating a profit margin, while this market is driven purely by traders’ beliefs about the likelihood of each outcome. If a significant number of informed bettors believe a sportsbook has mispriced a particular result, they can express that view through trading activity on Polymarket, potentially causing the prediction market odds to diverge. It’s common to see prediction markets more accurately forecast probabilities, especially when there's substantial trading volume and diverse participation.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing each possible exact score. The price of each share directly reflects the market’s assessment of the probability of that score occurring. As more shares are traded, the price adjusts to find an equilibrium point where buyers and sellers agree on the value. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s efficiency depends on the number of participants and the information they bring to bear on their trading decisions. The current top outcome has a chance percentage of 100.0%.
