Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, and may adjust lines to balance their risk. This market, however, represents the collective forecast of informed traders who are directly incentivized to be accurate. While sportsbooks may initially set odds based on statistical models and expert opinions, prediction markets can dynamically adjust as new information emerges and traders refine their assessments. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information sets or varying levels of confidence in potential outcomes.
