Typically, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, which represents their profit margin. This market, driven by the collective intelligence of traders, aims to represent the true probability of an event occurring. While sportsbooks may initially set odds based on expert analysis, prediction markets can quickly adjust to new information and potentially offer more accurate probabilities as the event approaches. It’s often insightful to compare the two to see where discrepancies lie.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome of the Aguilar vs Del Pino match. As more shares are purchased for a particular outcome, its price increases, reflecting a higher probability. The market dynamically adjusts to incorporate new information and changing sentiment, making it a real-time reflection of collective prediction.
