Prediction market odds and sportsbook odds often diverge because they reflect different participant bases and incentive structures. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and manage risk, while prediction markets aggregate the beliefs of traders who profit or lose based on accuracy. This market may price outcomes differently than traditional sportsbooks because traders here are directly exposed to the result, creating a crowdsourced forecast. Comparing the two can reveal where consensus differs and highlight potential value.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order-book mechanism where traders submit bids and asks for shares representing each possible outcome. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of each outcome reflects the latest equilibrium between buyers and sellers, updating in real time as new trades execute. Shares are binary—they either pay out at full value or zero depending on the result—so the current price directly represents the implied probability traders assign to that outcome occurring.
This market resolves around Jun 20, 2026, once the first five innings of the Boston-Seattle game are complete and the result is verifiable from credible public reporting. The outcome is determined by the actual events that unfold during those five innings, with no ambiguity about which team scored more runs in that window. Resolution happens automatically after the game data is confirmed, and all shares are settled according to the final result.
Several factors can shift odds before this market closes. Lineup announcements, starting pitcher changes, or injury updates for key players will influence trader expectations about early-game performance. Weather conditions at game time, recent team form, and head-to-head matchup history also drive repricing. As game time nears, any breaking news about roster decisions or field conditions typically triggers sharp moves. Once the game begins, each run scored or out recorded during the first five innings will cause the market to adjust dynamically.
