Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from traditional sportsbook odds due to varying information sources and incentives. Sportsbooks typically set lines to balance action and ensure profit, while this market allows participants to directly express their beliefs. If sportsbook odds significantly diverge from those found here, it could indicate differing expert opinions or a perceived informational advantage among prediction market traders. It’s important to remember that both represent probabilities, but are derived through different mechanisms and may appeal to different types of bettors.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders who believe an outcome is likely, the higher the share price will climb, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing reflects the collective intelligence of those trading on Polymarket and provides a real-time assessment of the event's potential results.
