Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance their risk, while this market allows traders to express their own beliefs about the probability of each exact score. If a significant disparity exists, arbitrage opportunities may emerge, where traders can profit by simultaneously betting on both platforms. However, it’s important to remember that prediction market odds are dynamic and change based on trading activity, potentially converging with sportsbook odds as the event approaches.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing different exact scores. The price of each share reflects the market's collective belief about the probability of that score occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the prices adjust accordingly. The market depth—the number of shares available at different price points—indicates the strength of conviction behind each outcome. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market reflects the most up-to-date information and insights.
