Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market represents the collective belief of traders who have skin in the game. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially before significant events or when new information emerges. If a large number of informed bettors believe a sportsbook is mispricing an outcome, they can express that view in this market, potentially driving the odds in a different direction than traditional bookmakers.
