Prediction markets like Polymarket and Predict operate on crowd-sourced pricing, where traders buy and sell shares tied to outcomes. Unlike traditional sportsbooks, which set fixed lines and manage risk through juice, prediction markets reflect real-time supply and demand. This can lead to sharper, more dynamic odds—especially as new information emerges. However, sportsbooks often move faster on breaking news, while prediction markets may lag slightly. Both venues ultimately aim to price the same underlying event, but their mechanisms and participant bases create natural differences in timing and precision.
